Y.E.S. Yogic Embodiment Series with Sofia Diaz

Co-ed Classes – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 7:00am – 8:30am
Women’s Classes – Mondays & Wednesdays 9:30am – 11:00am

These classes heighten different facets of the power of Hatha Yoga, favoring beloved states turning into vajra (clear, diamond-bright) traits and discomforts exploding into concentric circles of empowered care affecting the world by one whole-body, conscious breath.
Embodiment Technologies are the button to push in this time of imbalanced though exciting warp-speed evolution. There is no greater intelligence than the activity of heart-embodied-consciousness, there is no greater relief than understanding the unnecessary clutch of self, so easy with a few simple postures well connected and so brilliantly achieved with consistency of practice, thus ‘the slew’ of classes. If desired, and very sound upliftment from the “flying carpet” of practicing with other like-dedicated yogins and yoginis. The ride of our lives is fueled by the 10,0000 open eyes of our skin and, our heart beat – heads along only for the bliss.

Feldenkrais with Ethan Cowan

Mondays 6:00pm-7:30pm

This is a group class where the stretches and poses of yoga give way to explorations of the natural and idiosyncratic limits of each of our body-personalities. An hour long sequence of simple movement puzzles will gently suggest the discovery of personal qualities of movement instead of abstract quantities or extremes.

Feldenkrais is born out of questions about what meanings a somatic practice can or should have for we who live in post-industrial consumer culture. In addition to feeling relaxed, lengthened, and grounded, this class wants to find out how each person can find the sensations and feelings that will be most useful for creating empowered attitudes and new stories for living with the various chaoses and organizations of the 21st century.

Ethan Cowan trained in the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education and is part of the Contact Improvisation community. His background in media studies, music and childcare has brought him to a perspective that committing to the enjoyment of embodied, participatory connection is the highest value.

Embodied Posture: intro/beginners Foundation Training with Hollis Jones

Wednesdays 3:30pm – 4:30pm

Come explore embodied posture and the confidence that comes with it in this intro to foundation training. Posture has a direct effect on our moods, and is largely influenced by our movement patterns. Foundation training uses unique bodyweight exercise and breathing awareness in a movement practice that directly counters the stagnancy of our modern lifestyle. Foundation training focuses on integrating muscle chains so our body’s muscle groups work together cohesively. This shifts the neurology of how our body aligns itself to itself and creates strength and length that precipitate an empowered embodied experience that is our birthright. This practice has something new to offer you, whether you are a fit yogi, someone who experiences chronic pain, or a professional athlete. This is a donations based class, but free to try for your first time.
