Immunity to Change with Chad Bennett
Second and Fourth Mondays 6:30pm – 9:30pm in the Salon
The Immunity to Change process, founded by Harvard educators Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey is a structured 4-step process that uncovers precisely why we struggle to make the big developmental changes that would promote significant improvements in our livelihoods, relationships and at home. Albert Einstein once remarked, “If I had an hour to solve a problem, I’d spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and 5 minutes thinking about solution… no problem can be solved with the same level of consciousness that created it”. The gift of ITC is just so- it helps participants to get clearer on the “problem” itself and then offers a pathway to solution through a new level of conscious understanding.
In the human journey, we make both technical and adaptive changes. Technical changes are lateral moves, developmentally speaking, where we “change what we do” and they include taking up new skills, practices and tools. Adaptive changes, however, require new structures of consciousness to “change how we see”. If we apply technical means to adaptive changes we are bound for failure. Kegan and Lahey frequently use the example of dieting where, on average, people gain back 107% of their weight after a diet. This is because they likely addressed the issue by technical means (e.g. eating fewer calories) rather than adaptive means (e.g. recognizing the catastrophic “big assumptions” they might have about being thin!).
The ITC process is a fast paced learning environment and participants should arrive ready to engage and to be surprised by uncovering unconscious parts of themselves that subvert development, success and wellbeing. The workshop is especially effective for entrepreneurs, leaders of organizations, educators and helping professionals. What is your one big thing that would make all the difference of you shifted it? Come find out how possible it is to discover what will work for a change! See http://www.open-door-counseling.com/p/small-business-coaching.htmlfor more information.

Business Coaching Circle with Jacki Saorsail
Tuesdays 12:00pm-1:00pm in the Salon
Starting or running your own business? Want support from like-minded people? Want to practice authentic relating in a business context?
Each week we’ll focus on one participant’s professional challenge that they want help with. To address challenges we’ll use the Theory U Coaching Circle process, developed by the Presencing Institute at MIT. Theory U proposes that the quality of the results that we create in any kind of social system is a function of the quality of awareness, attention, or consciousness that the participants in the system operate from. We’ll practice deep listening and share perspectives from our own experience to better understand complex problems.
