Weekly Update for 11/9/17

November 9, 2017

Greetings Community,

I’m excited that my friend and Permaculture teacher Mike Wird will be playing here for the dance next Wednesday night! He does conscious hip hop and is super fun. Let’s get some night life going up in here!

In This Issue:

  • In the next Integral Salon we’ll discuss Patriarchy and Matriarchy.
  • Next Wednesday night local Permaculture/social justice activist DJ Mike Wird will play a Hurricane Benefit.
  • Kelly Larson is back teaching a yoga class Thursday evenings.

There’s a lot of great events so look at our online calendar for more info and any last minute changes.

Integral Salon ~ Patriarchy and Matriarchy

Monday November 13th 5:00pm – 6:30pm in the Chapel

In the either/or discourse that dominates mainstream/social media, you may have come across these terms. A lot of folks act as if they have just one simple definition, but as Integralists, we know that there’s much more nuance and complexity–especially in this dicey terrain.

Let’s unpack how these terms are used, take multiple perspectives about what they refer to, and see where we can discern their highest usefulness. Then we’ll decide which is the best!! <wink>

I’ve found reading these two articles quite insightful. I recommend skimming through them before this discussion.

Yoga Melt with Kelly Larson

Thursdays 5:15pm – 6:15pm in the Studio

Surrender to God, Grace and Gravity

This class is a blend of restorative yoga, yin yoga, body-based meditation, breathing techniques and sacred chanting. Every week will have a different blend, and the intention is to melt together and let our nervous systems unwind. In this practice we surrender and let God, Grace and Gravity have us. This class is great for anyone – please be prepared to close your eyes, breathe and relax. Bring a blanket if it’s convenient – you may enjoy being covered for this class.

Kelly is the director of the Center for the Study of Yoga and Health, owner of Breathe into Balance, and founder of the Power Yin Yoga tradition. A highly experienced transformational consultant, Yoga and meditation instructor, speaker, author, and scholar, she is regarded as one of the world’s top private Yoga instructors. She integrates Yoga teachings from many master teachers around the globe, and offers Yoga retreats, workshops, and private sessions internationally. Her Yoga certification was completed in India, where she returns to lead retreats.
