Weekly Update 2/08/17

February 8, 2017

Greetings Community,

I really want to go to Erin and Booster’s “22 Ways to Kiss” Game Night tomorrow but I don’t have anyone to smooch on! This just isn’t right. Somebody find me a hot date please. Thanks in advance.

In This Issue:

  • Jack Butler shares his experience in Kenya and how to be an Integral Global Citizen in a video from the Relational Leadership Summit 2016.
  • Circling Labs are a chance to practice authentic relating and plug into our community 3 times a week.
  • John Reed is leading a Book Study on Keith Witt’s new book Shadow Light starting next Wednesday.

There’s a lot of great events so look at our online calendar for more info and any last minute changes.

What does it mean to be a Global Citizen?

integralcenter.org/integral-global-citizen

“Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic.”
– Martin Luther King Jr

Are we really one human family, all in this together — as brothers and sisters?
How do we become truly Global Citizens, and step into our civic power?
It often seems hard enough to get by on our own in our western modern society, so how can we make an impact on those whose needs are far greater than our own?

Jack Butler, at the Relational Leadership Summit, offers a compelling frame for understanding what kind of impact is truly possible to help our global neighbors.

Circling Labs and Nights

Mondays and Wednesdays 12:00pm-3:00pm, Tuesdays 7:00pm-9:15pm in the Chapel

Once you find your tribe you will find the depth of connection that you have been longing for. At Circling Labs and Community Circling Nights we strive to teach you the skills that allow you to create the social life and deep connections you want while building our community here at The Integral Center.

Circling is a practice of balancing connection to Self and Other while building our capacity to be present in our lives and be able to meet anything with equanimity. A trained facilitator guides a discussion focussed on what is happening in the present moment. We get to know what it is like to be another person and what other people experience being with us. Other Authentic Relating and group activities may be practiced during these events as well, at the discretion of the event leader.

Next week’s event leaders are:

Feb 13th – Mon Circling Lab – 12-3pm – Ryel Kestano
Feb 14th – Tues Circling evening – 7-9:15pm – Ryu Koyama
Feb 15th – Wed Circling Lab – 12-3pm – Life Huges

Free for IC members
Open to the public – $15

Shadow Light Book Study

6 Wednesdays starting February 15th 5:00pm – 6:30pm in the Salon

SHADOW LIGHT: ILLUMINATIONS AT THE EDGE OF DARKNESS
The new book by Dr. Keith Witt

“Why is it that despite our best intentions, most of us find it so difficult to change?
Why do some of us have superior judgment in critical situations and others of us make horrible choices?
Why do I feel like a worthwhile person some of the time and a worthless person occasionally?
The answer is Shadow.
In his latest book, Dr. Keith Witt shines a powerful light on the unconscious forces that drive us, for better or for worse, and shows us how our Shadows are key to real growth and transformation.”

Please click below and read full description of book prior to our first meeting on Feb 15. You may also purchase your kindle or hard copy on this link to bring to group.
