I’m excited about Robert and Ali’s video series about the upcoming transition/completion of “The Integral Center Project” as we are coming to call it. I want to hear Robert’s stories of the lessons he has learned from it. I’ve definitely learned a lot too. I feel good about “letting the fields go fallow” as far as the community center aspect is concerned. I have been a community organizer for 15 years and will definitely continue to do so, but trying to plan the next thing right now doesn’t seem quite right, like the knot needs to unravel before we can tie a new one. Let’s take this time to listen to our past and integrate our lessons learned and I think the next steps will make themselves apparent.
In This Issue:
- Ali Shanti interviews Robert MacNaughton about the transitions happening with the Integral Center.
- The Authentic Relating Comprehensive has just a couple spots open, starting October 6th.
- Effortless Heart Mindfulness is a Luminous Awareness weekend program November 3rd-5th.
There’s a lot of great events so look at our online calendar for more info and any last minute changes.

Integral Center Transition Conversation Part 1
Robert makes the announcement that The Integral Center building will be closing in March of 2018. Ali will be doing multiple interviews with Robert to harvest the lessons from The Integral Center Project as it comes to a close. There are currently no plans for a future iteration other than to allow this project to come to a close and see what wants to emerge from the remaining viable aspects. One of the main lessons that has been learned is to trust this process and allow rather than try to control the future. We invite you to join us for the last hurrah of programming including the Relational Leadership Summit and Authentic Relating Comprehensive. Please share your own experiences and lessons learned in this Facebook video thread so that we can fully integrate all that has happened before we look towards the future.
Authentic Relating Comprehensive
3 Weekends over 5 Months starting October 6th
ARC is a three-weekend intensive training designed to improve every aspect of your relationships and infuse your life with the opportunities for richer, more rewarding, more powerful interactions. Those extraordinary “peak experience” states, will develop into ongoing traits in your life.
Over three in-person weekends and through group coaching, focused personalized feedback, and assignments to implement new ways of relating in your life, this training will upgrade what we like to call “Relational Intelligence.” You’ll learn to practice and apply our refined set of Authentic Relating communication tools and principles. As as a result, you’ll increase the quality of your relationships with everyone around you, including your ongoing relationship with yourself!
Here’s Some of What You’ll Learn in The ARC Training…
- How to inspire others with your passion so that they’re moved and excited to support you in co-creating something. This is HUGE if you’re an entrepreneur running a business or otherwise looking to “make your contribution” in the world.
- Develop listening superpowers so that others feel deeply heard, understood, and regularly express gratitude for your attention to detail, your perceptiveness, and your respect for any differences you uncover together. They’ll open up as you “tune-in” to them with ease.
- How to have deeper connection with those who challenge you most, even your family. Even those relationships in your life that seem most stuck in old grooves can be refreshed and enriched with new depth and more realness. We’ll support you in doing this artfully and ecologically (translation: without screwing up your life!)
- Discover your own personal strengths, as well as your blind spots. One of the most powerful aspects of this training will be receiving honest, direct feedback from others about how you occur to them.
- How to effectively deliver raw or edgy feedback, to others in a way that has them fully receive it and be grateful for your reflection.
- Skillfully navigate challenging social dynamics and conversations. When difficulties or conflict arise from unmet expectations, misunderstandings, or broken agreements, you’ll have the skill and confidence to dive in and work things out.
- Uncover the themes and tendencies you bring to each of your relationships, both present-day, and through your personal history, and learn to use this self-knowledge to refine your own personal style and approach to communicating and relating.
Here’s What is Included…
3 in-person weekends where you’ll be practicing the art of effective Authentic Relating and communication skills in direct contact with your peers. You’ll receive personalized feedback, reflection, and guidance from our world-class team of facilitators.
Group coaching and peer support between weekends through regular conference calls and an exclusive online group.
Life integration assignments designed for you to uncover your relational patterns playing out in your life and to put into practice what you’re learning in the relationships that matter the most to you.
Extraordinary community experience that builds over time as you work through the weekends and support each other in your assignments between weekends.

Effortless Heart Mindfulness
Friday, Nov. 3, 7-9pm, Saturday & Sunday, Nov. 4 & 5, 10am-5pm
Awakening is the only true sustainable access to the happiness and freedom we constantly seek. But while we can choose a path to awakening that transcends us out of life, we need a path towards awakening that can help us become fully embodied and connected to the world around us.
We can thus consider a map in which there is not just the “waking up” of general awakening, but also a “waking in” to our natural embodied well-being within ourselves, as well as a “waking out,” in which we develop our abilities to create in the world and compassionately relate to others. From this unconditionally loving Effortless Heart Mindfulness we can learn to welcome all emotions and unburden our shadow parts.
In this workshop you will:
~ Learn Loch’s contemporary versions of the ancient wisdom practices of effortless mindfulness and heart mindfulness through a series of awareness inquiries, glimpses, and non-dual pointers.
~ Begin to retrain your brain to remain in open-hearted awareness, so that you can transition back to your everyday life.
Once we have experienced the empty ground of our being we discover it is in union with all pervasive energy and form; the fullness of our being. In simultaneous mind we not only experience the freedom of our awake mind, we are embodied and intimate with life.
~ Open and train in simultaneous mind: the union of emptiness and fullness.
~ From simultaneous awareness learn Anna-Lisa’s method for focusing on the subtle body to locate and dissolve the blocks and obscurations to embodying our awakened nature.
Those who attend the retreat are highly encouraged to read Loch’s book, Shift Into Freedom, and listen to the audio of the meditations before the weekend. This is so we have some common background and vocabulary to be able to dive deeply into the support of realization, abiding, expression, and unfolding.
Full weekend – $180 in advance / $210 at the door
Friday evening only – $25
