Weekly Update for 6/19/17

June 19, 2017

Greetings Community,

I just heard that one of our community members passed away, Andrew Barron. Jason Digges posted a video on Facebook about his loss. I didn’t know Andrew but I’m feeling some heaviness for our community and I really appreciate Jason’s message. The Integral Center is a place you can come to find an ear when you need it. If you’re impacted by Andrew’s death or this is bringing up your own struggles please use this community to get support.

In This Issue:

  • Jason Digges interviews Tracy Fox about bringing Authentic Relating to Middle and High School kids.
  • Ethan Cowan is teaching a Feldenkrais class that’s free for members Monday evenings starting in July.
  • Ali Shanti will be delivering the next New Economy Seminar at the Impact Hub on June 19th.

There’s a lot of great events so look at our online calendar for more info and any last minute changes.

Authentic Relating for Teens with Tracy Fox

Tracy Fox is an experienced educator who has taught in many different programs. Her latest project is brining authentic relating classes to middle schools and high schools. Listen in to this inspiring story to find out how she did it and the kids reaction.

F*Yoga

Mondays starting July 3rd 6:00pm – 7:30pm in the Studio

F is for effortless. This is a group class where the stretches and poses of yoga give way to explorations of the natural and idiosyncratic limits of each of our body-personalities. An hour long sequence of simple movement puzzles will gently suggest the discovery of personal qualities of movement instead of abstract quantities or extremes.

F*Yoga is a Boulder invention, born out of questions about what meanings a somatic practice can or should have for we who live in post-industrial consumer culture. In addition to feeling relaxed, lengthened, and grounded, this class wants to find out how each person can find the sensations and feelings that will be most useful for creating empowered attitudes and new stories for living with the various chaoses and organizations of the 21st century.

Ethan Cowan trained in the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education and is part of the Contact Improvisation community. His background in media studies, music and childcare has brought him to a perspective that committing to the enjoyment of embodied, participatory connection is the highest value.
